Richard L. Collins 72, of Bethany went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday afternoon, September 27, 2018 in Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 2 in the First Church of the Nazarene in Shelbyville with the Rev. Greg Breeden officiating. Arrangements were by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Read More

Floyd Eugene “Gene” Denton, 91, of Sullivan, passed away at 1:40 a.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2018 in Sullivan Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 6 in McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in Sullivan. Burial with Military Rites by Sullivan American Legion Post #68 will be in Marrowbone Township Cemetery in Bethany. Read More

Richard L. Collins 72, of Bethany, IL, went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday afternoon, September 27, 2018 in Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2018 in the First Church of the Nazarene in Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Greg Breeden officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the church. Memorial may be given to the Mode Camp, Mode, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.

Richard was born on November 14, 1945 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Melvin L. and Bernadine Marie (Behl) Collins. He graduated from Stewardson-Strasburg High School in the Class of 1963. Richard married Judy Kay Williams on March 14, 1964 in the Washington United Methodist Church, near Stewardson, IL. He worked at ADM in Decatur, IL for All Tri-R Construction of Pana, IL. Richard enjoyed fishing, playing softball, going to car shows and NHRA drags and above all, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; three daughters, Kim Ohnesorge (Rich) of Altamont, IL, Michelle Knop (Kyle) of Strasburg, IL and Jill Hart of Sullivan, IL; brother, David Collins (Tammy) of Watson, IL; grandchildren, Kayla Knop Nichols (Josh), Tanner Williams, Ali Hart, Kendall Knop and Drake Williams; and great grandchildren, Brantley Nichols, Whitlee Nichols and Liam Williams.

Richard was reunited in heaven with his parents; son-in-law, Jerry Williams; brother-in-law, Brad Cutler; unborn grandchildren; his uncle and aunt, Bill and Mary Lue Harvey; and many other loved ones.

Bart W. Qualls, 53, of Sullivan, passed away at 3:34 p.m. Thursday September 13, 2018 in Sullivan.
Celebration of Life services were at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) in Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Charliam Renner officiating.
Bart was born February 15, 1965 in Decatur the son of Arthur Eugene and Barbara Albert Qualls. He had been a dedicated worker for the Sullivan School District for 19 years. He was a member of Sullivan First United Methodist Church. Bart married Linda Martinie August 13,1983 in Decatur. Read More

Gregg Alan Taylor, 67, of Sullivan, Illinois passed away in his home September 11, 2018 surrounded by his family.
Gregg was a second generation Eastern Illinois alumni and married Evelyn Sandrisser in 1981.
He is survived by their daughters Kali of Sullivan and Lauren of Evansville, Indiana and his sister Jan Nichols of Mattoon. Read More

Willard Yates

Willard F. Yates, 88, of Bedford, passed away in Bloomington Hospital Sunday, September 16, 2018 after a brief illness.
Born June 20, 1930, in Findlay, Ohio, he grew up in Sullivan and attended Blackburn College and the University of Illinois before entering the U.S. Army in 1952 where he was a combat engineer in the Korean War. Following military service, he enrolled at Eastern Illinois University where he earned a bachelor of science degree in botany. He was awarded a fellowship for graduate study at IU, earning a master of arts degree, then taught at the University of the Cumberlands in Tenn. and Ball State University in Indiana. Yates received his PhD in Botany from IU before joining the faculty of Butler University in Indianapolis, teaching courses in genetics, botany, systematics and physiology for 30 years as well as being curator of the 120,000 plant specimens in the Friesner Herbarium. Barbara Lou Brock (née Graham), 73, of Arthur passed away at 4:35 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2018 in her home surrounded by her family after a hard-fought cancer battle.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 20 from 4-7 p.m. and from 10-11 a.m. at the Arthur Southern Baptist Church with the funeral at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 21 also at the church with the Rev. Storm leaves damage in its wake

The storm that occurred in the evening hours of June 11th produced wind gusts of up to 70 mph left many locals without power, with many experiencing damage to property ranging from mild to extreme.
