Joan Chaney 

D. Joan Pritts Chaney, 83, of Decatur, passed away April 13, 2018 peacefully in her home.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, April 18) in First Christian Church in Decatur. Burial was in Bethany Cemetery. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur handled arrangements.

Joan was born December 2, 1934 in Moultrie County, a daughter of Darrel and Julia I. Wilkinson Pritts.  She married Carroll E. “Sonny” Chaney November 23, 1984 in Decatur. Read More

Martha L. Glascock, 75, of Wausau, Wis. died Thursday, April 12, 2018 in Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

She was born June 22, 1942 in Mattoon, the daughter of the late Virgil Eugene and Hazel Ferne Cordray Nolen. She married Howard “Lynn” Glascock May 31, 1963 in Sullivan, and he preceded her in death February 1, 1990. Read More

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, April 16 at St. Columcille Catholic Church in Sullivan. Burial was in Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan. A prayer service was held at 6 p.m. Sunday in McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan.  Read More

Joan (Pritts) Chaney
D. Joan (Pritts) Chaney, 83, of Decatur, passed away April 13, 2018 peacefully in her home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 18 in First Christian Church, Decatur, IL.  Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 pm, Tuesday, April 17 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery, Bethany, IL.
Memorials in Joan’s honor may be given to First Christian Church or Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois.
Joan was born December 2, 1934 in Moultrie County, the daughter of Darrel and Julia I. (Wilkinson) Pritts.  She married Carroll E. “Sonny” Chaney on November 23, 1984 in Decatur, IL.
She worked for Mississippi Valley, AE Staley and St. Mary’s Hospital until her retirement in 1999.  After her retirement, she remained active as a volunteer at St. Mary’ Hospital.  Joan was a passionate member of First Christian Church, singing in the choir for over 50 years and volunteering in a variety of areas.  She enjoyed attending the Gaither Family Festival in Gatlinburg, TN every year.
Joan is survived by her husband of 33 years, Sonny; children, Allan (Wynette) McDaniel of Morton, Susan McDaniel of Burnsville, NC, Joni (Dennis) Thee of Decatur, and Leslie (Jim) Snyder of Walla Walla, WA; stepson Mark (Katheryn) Chaney of Daytona Beach, FL; grandchildren, Philip McDaniel, Nicholas (Trish) McDaniel, Darin (Kristin) Doty, Trenton McDaniel, Blake (Rachelle) Wells, Alyssa (Kyle) McDaniel, Jared Wells, Hope, Abby, and Jesse Snyder; 9 great granddaughters and one on the way; and sister, Carolyn Austin of Bethany.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Imogene Cross.

Dean M. Wilson, 101, of Decatur, passed away at 3:14 a.m., Monday, April 9, 2018, in his home. Graveside services will be Saturday, April 14 at 2 p.m. in Marrowbone Township Cemetery in Bethany, with the Rev. Dr. Timothy Kovalcik officiating.

Mr. Wilson was born May 15, 1916, in Hanoverton, Ohio, the son of Ashley S. and Anna Bertha Moore Wilson. He graduated from Muskingham College in New Concord, Ohio in 1937, earning a degree in Economics.  Dean was a World War II veteran, achieving the rank of Lieutenant and was the Communications Officer on a destroyer minesweeper called the USS Southard DMS 10. On Route 133 between Lovington and Arthur, power poles fell as a result of the storm systems that hit central Illinois in two waves on Wednesday, June 17th. These storms left many without power and caused widespread damage throughout the area, including confirmed tornado touchdowns in nearby counties.
