Betty Jewell Carr, 91, a longtime resident of the Windsor area passed away peacefully June 16, 2016 at Heartland Christian Village of Neoga. Born August 22, 1924 in Shelbyville she was the oldest daughter of Hal and Nina (Bence) Hennigh. She attended Walden and Prairie Schools, Windsor High School and Sparks Business College. Betty married Russell (Rusty) Carr May 10, 1945 in Decatur. She is survived by two sisters Mary Lou Rihl of Plain City, OH and Joy (Bob) Caspary of Windsor; daughter Linda (Randy) Rose of Monticello; son Jerry Carr of Effingham; daughter-in-law Janet Carr of Windsor; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Rusty, youngest son Michael and great-grandson Tyler Carr. Betty lived an active life for many years. As a child she worked on the family farm with her father. After marrying, Betty and Rusty farmed together. In her later years she still liked to discuss the crop situation. She was active in the Windsor United Methodist Church. Betty worked as a receptionist and office assistant for Dr. Taylor in Windsor. After retirement she worked in the pro shop at Angus Links golf course. Betty and Rusty spent many winters in Bonita Springs, FL where they made great friends and enjoyed a relaxed lifestyle. She was a wonderful seamstress making her daughter’s wedding gown, a great cook who could whip up a delicious meal with whatever was on hand. Betty and Rusty had happy memories traveling in their camper, dancing, playing cards and mushroom hunting with family and friends. She was happiest spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very proud of them and their accomplishments. The last few years she has called Heartland Christian Village her home. She loved the staff and kept them on their toes. Betty will be remembered as an outgoing, vibrant, one of a kind personality. She will be remembered fondly and missed by many. Visitation will be held at Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor on Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at noon. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Journey for Jordan or the Windsor United Methodist Church. David was born on September 13, 1942 in Moweaqua, the son of Guy F. and Viola Blanche (Ward) Smith. He married Connie L. Miller on September 26, 1965 in Bethany. He was a Marine Corps veteran. David was retired from A. E. Staley Company, Decatur. David also worked at P.C. Limited, Argenta and he was a cabinet maker. He was a member of the Cumberland-Presbyterian Church, Bethany.
He is survived by his wife, Connie; sons, Bryan (Kelly) Smith of Bourbonnais and Tighe (Donna) Smith of Nashville, TN; daughter, Sheri (Robert) Williams of Decatur; sister, Marlene Fabley of Decatur; 9 grandchildren, Tiffany, Scott, Emily, Abigail, Sarin, Annabelle, JB, Desirae and Makiya; 3 great-grandchildren, Brionna, Brilee and SJ.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters.

Ralph “Cap” Owen Arthur, age 73, of Allenville, IL passed away at 12:19 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Carle Foundation Hospital.
Funeral services for family and friends will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Schilling Funeral Home with Pastor Ricky Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Windsor Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
Ralph was born on May 18, 1943 in Chicago, IL the son of Ralph Aaron and Irene (Block) Arthur. He married Vera Lavone Nolen on July 24, 1976.
Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Vera Arthur of Allenville, IL; sons, James Arthur of Mattoon, IL, Allen Arthur of Charleston, IL and Raymond Paul Arthur (fiancé, Candace Carr) of Windsor, IL; step son, Lawrence Roy (Darla) Gregory of Montezuma, IN step-daughter, Julie Denise (John) Gregory-Grygiel of Mohamet, IL; eleven grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters, Betty Diedrich of Calumet City, IL and Nancy Gardner of Springfield, IL; brother, Raymond Arthur of Jacksonville, FL; numerous nieces and nephews. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Bertha Riccio and brother-in-law, John Riccio.
Ralph served honorably in the United States Army from 1960-1963. He worked at Twin Oaks Wrecking Company in Chicago, IL, Ford Motor Company and USI (formerly known as Quantum Chemical). Ralph retired from Meats Plus where he worked as a truck driver. He enjoyed watching westerns particularly John Wayne’s and Gunsmoke.

Bea was born July 27, 1927 in Lovington, the daughter of James and Leta (Bell) Miller. She married Carl K. Cummings on December 13, 1941 in St. Louis, MO. He preceded her in death on August 19, 1992. Bea owned and managed the Bea Hive in Windsor. She was a member of the Windsor Christian Church.
She is survived by her son, Ron (Theresa) Cummings of Sullivan; daughters, Sherry (Butch) Beck of Windsor, Marsha (Don) Spence of Mattoon; brother, Lloyd (Pat) Miller of Lake City, FL; sister, Helen Doss of Windsor; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, sister, son, Bill Cummings and daughter, Pat Giesler.

Born July 18, 1938 in Findlay, he was a son of Virgil and Dollie Johnson Winings. Richard was a faithful Christian man and witness. Devoted to family and friends, he was a faithful provider to family, working at Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 33 years and helping rural farmers planting and harvesting crops. He was a man of great integrity that you could bank on his word. He would give the shirt off his back and then some. He loved the outdoors in God’s creation and was a lover of animals.
