Eileen White, 66, of Lovington, died at 1 a.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2016 in St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.

Celebration of Life services were held at 1 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church of Arthur with Pastor John Stewart officiating. Burial was in Keller Cemetery in Lovington. Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. White was born March 2, 1949 in Casey, a daughter of Charles and Virginia Perisho Morris. Eileen was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Arthur. She married Harold White June 12, 1966 in Arthur, and he survives. Read More

Joan Daily, 89, of Sullivan passed away at 12:33 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2016 in her home in Sullivan.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 27 in McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan. Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Friday in McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan.

Joan was born August 26, 1926 in Gays, a daughter of Everett and Bernice Gilbreath Hawbaker. She married William L. Daily June 8, 1946 in Sullivan. Joan was a member of First Christian Church in Mattoon, Order of the Eastern Star Crystal Chapter # 39 in Sullivan, American Legion Auxiliary in Sullivan and her pinochle club. She loved cooking and gardening. Life had been built around her family—Bill and their children and grandchildren. Read More

Elizabeth J. “Betty” Fombelle Harshbarger, 88, of Arthur, formerly of Atwood, passed away at 3:05 p.m., Friday, February 12, 2016 in Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Ill.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday in Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home in Atwood with the Rev. Bruce Weiman officiating.

Burial was in Mackville Cemetery in Atwood.

Born Elizabeth Jane Reeder December 20, 1927 in Jarman Hospital in Tuscola to Ralph and Mary Hofsas Reeder, she attended Atwood schools graduating with the class of 1945. Betty graduated from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign in January 1949. Read More

Larry Hugh Phelps, 75, of Sullivan passed away Friday Feb. 12, 2016 in Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Graveside memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday Feb. 20 in Keller Cemetery in Lovington with Pastor Al Rennert officiating. No visitation will be held. Arrangements are by McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan.

Larry was born May 26, 1940 in Sullivan, a son of Hugh B. and Susan Evelyn Smith Phelps. He loved his dog Bubby very much. Read More

Theresa Aileen Stinson, 93, of Sullivan passed away at 11:05 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016 in Sullivan Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 12 in McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan with visitation 5-7 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Keller Cemetery in Lovington.

Aileen was born August 25, 1922, a daughter of David B. and Clem Stinson Phillips. She married Lawrence Kenneth Stinson December 16, 1939 in Allen County, Ky., and he preceded her in death February 28, 2008. Aileen was a seamstress, and she enjoyed doing alterations for many people in the community. She also enjoyed gardening, and she loved her family. Read More

Diane was born September 12, 1948 in Decatur, a daughter of Hue Tim and Ruth Rosetta Moran Crowe. Diane worked for the Secretary of State in Springfield, GE in Mattoon and as a hairdresser. She was a member of New Life Church in Sullivan. She loved the elderly and loved to paint and sing. She also loved her nieces and nephews. Read More

The Moultrie-Douglas County Fair Pageant will be held Monday, July 27th at 6:00 p.m. for Little Miss Fair Queen and 7:00 p.m. for Miss and Junior Miss Fair Queen located at the south track on the Mo-Do Fairgrounds. Vying for the title of Miss Moultrie Douglas Fair Queen are: Abigail Meyer of Tuscola, Addee Mulligan of Arcola, Sarah Rogers of Atwood, Ava Whitson of Tuscola, Addisyn Wilson of Villa Grove, Emma Spillman of Tuscola, Aymara Leal of Arcola and Katilyn Kirby of Sullivan.
