Barbara Clayton Barbara Clayton, 83, of Allenville, passed away 7:43 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2018 in Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon. Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the French Cemetery, Allenville. Memorials are suggested to the family. Heidi Crawford of Sullivan had to field numerous questions about her Computer Science II project; pastry was the foods choice of Cassandra Jackson of Lovington. Bread baked by Paige Clark of Bethany earned one of six superior awards. Alyssa Gilmore of Lovington chose a tractor and a baby cradle as the foundations for her flower arrangements in the horticulture competition. Based on a recent analysis of the incidence and reflection of state revenue and spending, these lawmakers should be wary of biting the hand that feeds Downstate. Resentment of Chicago by Downstaters goes back at least to 1870. Okaw Valley Volleyball Team Wins Two for the Week

•September 5, 2018• By Jason Brown NP Sports The Okaw Valley volleyball team knocked off Sullivan and Neoga last week to improve its record to 3-1 on the season. Last Thursday, the Timberwolves defeated Neoga in three sets. OV lost the first set 26-24 but battled back to take the next two sets, 25-22, 25-10. Madison Voegel recorded four blocks, four kills and two aces. Paige Coleman tallied three blocks, 10 kills, two aces, two assists and 13 digs. •September 5, 2018• Sullivan Chamber and Economic Development is operating in new offices at 101 W. Jefferson St. and is kicking off Spark, a community based initiative for future planning. For Executive Director Laurrie Minor juggling economic planning initiatives while working on the next community festival, Oktoberfest, is all in a day’s work. Sullivan Spark, with direction from the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs at Western University, includes local citizen volunteers to help create a long-range plan for the community.
