Photos furnished Siblings Place at Summer Stream Sullivan Blue Dolphins competed the weekend of June 23 in the Terre Haute Summer Steam Long Course Meet. Nineteen swimmers represented SBD and had several fast swims. Head coach Jason Drury said he could not have asked for more for the swimmers coming into a 50 meter long course meet. •July 12, 2017• Illinois Veterans of Foreign Wars State Commander Jeffrey Hastings announced the kick-off of this year’s VFW’s Voice of Democracy Scholarship competition. Illinois high school students have the opportunity to compete for thousands of dollars in scholarships and a trip to Washington, D.C. Students must write and record a three-to-five minute essay on the selected theme using an audio CD or flash drive and present their recording, typed essay and completed entry form to their local VFW Post by October 31. Animal Shelter Resolves Feed Issue

•July 12, 2017• Since loss of a program that provided Moultrie County with free food for cats and dogs at the county animal shelter, the county has looked to other sources. Animal control director Rick Matthews reported earlier that Moultrie County was no longer eligible for a free feed program from Mars Petcare. Matthews noted the $3000 annual benefit was discontinued because pets adopted from the Moultrie County Animal Shelter are not given shots before they leave. There was a lot of horsing around and unbridled fun when the Heartland Mini Hoofs cantered into the Mid-Illinois Senior Services for a morning of horseplay with the miniature equine certified therapy horses. With diapers around their rumps, the little horses totally captivated their audience as they ambled among the 40 seniors in attendance.
