•April 26, 2017• Sullivan Preschool open house is 6:30-8 p.m. Friday, April 28. Located at 10 Hawthorne Lane in Sullivan the licensed child care facility serves children ages six weeks to 10 years old. Warm Soils Reported Throughout Illinois
•April 26, 2017• Warmer weather across the state has led to higher than normal soil temperatures, according to Jennie Atkins, Water and Atmospheric Resources Monitoring (WARM) Program manager at the University of Illinois’ Illinois State Water Survey. Soil temperatures rose steadily over the first half of April, increasing 11.5 degrees during the first 15 days. At depths of four inches under sod, temperatures averaged 54.9 degrees for the period, 4.4 degrees higher than the long-term average. •April 26, 2017• By Jason Brown NP Sports Kyle Wickline, a city carrier for the United States Postal Service in Sullivan, decided to pick up the pace last week. Not during his deliveries through the streets of Sullivan but rather in the oldest annual marathon in the world. On Patriots’ Day, Wickline ran in the Boston Marathon for the first time. He ran the marathon in memory of his late grandpa, Dean Fulk, who referred to Wickline as “his marathoner.” Wickline finished the race with a time of 3:28:18 and a 7:56 pace per mile. … Read More

•April 26, 2017• The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond baseball team finished the week 1-2 with a loss to Arcola Friday and Okaw Valley Monday and a win against Argenta-Oreana last Wednesday. The Knights defeated Argenta-Oreana 4-1 at Argenta. ALAh scored two runs in the third to take an early lead and then tacked on single runs in the fifth and sixth. Intermittent cell service in the area prompted the tower upgrade. Joe and Joan Pound met Bob and Mary Ellen Hood who had lived in Manila in the Philippines for 14 years. Findlay Auxiliary Drive a Success
•April 26, 2017• The American Red Cross Blood Drive hosted by the Findlay American Legion Auxiliary April 10 was very successful! The goal for the drive was 20 pints of blood. Thirty people answered the call for blood donations, and 26 pints were collected. Connie Dotson received a pin for donating a total of three gallons of blood, and Connor Dotson received a two gallon pin. The next blood drive is scheduled for June 6.
