New Donor at Findlay Drive

•October 19, 2016• Findlay American Legion volunteers welcomed a new donor to the Oct. 5 Blood Drive. The Findlay American Legion Auxiliary fell six pints short of their goal of 19 pints at their recent American Blood Cross Blood Drive. The drive was held at the Findlay American Legion October 5. Seventeen donors responded to the plea for blood donations. Sierra Landreth became a first time donor. The next blood drive will be held 2-6 p.m. Tues. Sullivan Golf Competes at Sectionals

•October 19, 2016• Sullivan High School Lady Redskins golf team competed in the 1A IHSA Sectionals Monday at Lincoln Elks Country Club. There are only two classes in high school girls’ golf; therefore, SHS was competing against large schools. The first five places were Charleston, Bloomington Central Catholic, Bloomington University, Champaign St. Thomas More and Williamsville. The team finished their season in sixth place with a season low score of 389. Brooke Tuttle led the team with an 89, missing state qualifying by two strokes. Sullivan Schools Continue Academic Progress

•October 19, 2016• Sullivan Unit District #300 met Tuesday, October 11 accepting the district audit and a handbook for volunteers. Superintendent Brad Tuttle explained the expanded use of volunteers has led to the development of a volunteer handbook as a general guide toward how and what is acceptable while volunteering within the school. Tuttle noted the district is appreciative of the volunteers and hopes the handbook will provide a guideline. County Board Addresses Some Salary Issues

•October 19, 2016• Moultrie County Board met Thursday, Oct. 13 approving a levy reduction and some employee salary issues. Budget and finance chair Ron White proposed the county fund levy be reduced from $925,000 to $875,000 annually which was approved unanimously. Reinstatement of the previous employee bonus line item to $500 for full time employees was approved for a total of $15,000. Part time amounts will vary. Personnel committee chairman Roger Glazebrook moved to approve the appointment of Lori Barringer as interim supervisor of assessments which was unanimous. •October 19, 2016• Kirk Whitaker NP Sports The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights (20-6) won more than one way on the court Oct. 17 against the Arthur Okaw Christian Tigers. The Knights took down the Tigers 25-16, 25-15 on Dig Pink night–the annual event to raise funds in the attempt to find a cure for breast cancer.
