Sullivan Lions Sponsor Free Eye Screening

•June 29, 2016• Free eye screening for diabetic retinopathy is available on the Sullivan IGA parking lot 9 a.m. to noon Friday, July 1. The Sullivan Lions Club sponsored screening is in conjunction with the Lions of Illinois Foundation and Illinois Retina Associates, S.C. Diabetic retinopathy is the leading cause of new blindness in adults in the United States. Early detection is a major factor in the prevention of visual loss. Recently 28 Sullivan students took part in a scientific adventure to the Tampa Bay area where they were immersed in aquatic habitats to understand the interconnections between ourselves and the environment. Fourth of July at Lake Shelbyville

•June 29, 2016• The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville is gearing up for a busy Fourth of July weekend. A host of programs and special events are planned for visitors to enjoy including campground programs, a dog show, tours of the dam, and the annual fireworks show. The campground programs offered over the course of the holiday weekend will be held at the amphitheaters of various Lake Shelbyville USACE campgrounds.
