Students from Lovington Junior High also participated. They are Kara Bolsen, Kelly Smith, Chas Seelow and Jenny Elliott. Leslie Phelps of Bethany has been awarded a Millikin University academic scholarship based on outstanding academic achievement. She is the daughter of Gilbert and Deborah Phelps. Sullivan Council Reviews Liquor Changes

•June 29, 2016• A couple of requests for changes in liquor licenses led to a review of sale hours and license availability at the Sullivan City Council meeting June 27. Mayor Ann Short opened discussion with a request from Sullivan IGA to add package liquor to the beer and wine license they already have. IGA manager Pat Stinson made the request based on increased sales the store has experienced during the tourist season. “If we can offer a full service liquor department, we will have a better chance drawing those tax dollars to Sullivan,” Stinson began. Fireworks Returns to Lovington

•June 29, 2016• Lovington is bringing back the fireworks to the old football field this year at dusk Sunday, July 3. Lovington has not had fireworks since approximately 2008 when the late Gene Clark and his minutemen put on the show for many years. Central States Fireworks of Athens handle the display. An old set piece will be lit in memory of Clark who had a love for fireworks. Many of his family members and friends used to help him  weeks before the fourth preparing for the show.
