Sullivan Swim Team Places Third in Sectionals

•February 24, 2016• By Jason Lee Brown For the News Progress The Sullivan boys’ swim team placed third out of 22 teams in the boys’ Sectional Swimming and Diving Championship at Champaign Centennial High School Saturday. “We had some good personal best times for our swimmers, and we really competed well in a tough sectional meet against much larger schools,” said coach Scott Bales. “Unlike all other IHSA sports, swimming has only one class or division, so we compete against schools with enrollments of 2,000 or 200 students.” Bryce King, Wiktor Poznachowski, Charlie Goss, Luke DeLong and Brodie Goss finished … Read More

Smyser Mission Trip Holds Windsor Auction

There will be items donated by more than 100 contributors including Agri-Fab, Chicago White Sox, Magic House in St. Louis, Thirty-One, Shedd Aquarium, Big Splash Adventure and Ace Hardware. Eileen White Eileen White, 66, of Lovington, died at 1 a.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2016 in St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur. Celebration of Life services were held at 1 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church of Arthur with Pastor John Stewart officiating. Burial was in Keller Cemetery in Lovington. Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. White was born March 2, 1949 in Casey, a daughter of Charles and Virginia Perisho Morris. Eileen was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Arthur. She married Harold White June 12, 1966 in Arthur, and he survives. … Read More
