Volunteers Needed for Lake Shelbyville Fish Habitat Improvement Day

•February 24, 2016• The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources will place donated Christmas trees and artificial porcupine structures into Lake Shelbyville March 19 to enhance the fisheries for years to come. Volunteers with boats are needed to help place trees in the lake at designated locations. Volunteers on shore are also needed to help build the porcupine structures and bundle and place the trees and porcupine balls in the boats. Good Findlay Blood Drive Turn Out

•February 24, 2016• The Findlay American Legion Auxiliary hosted an American Red Cross Blood Drive Wednesday, Feb. 10 at the Findlay American Legion Hall. Time Change for Foodbank Distribution

•February 24, 2016• Monsanto and Eastern Illinois Foodbank will distribute a truckload of food from the Eastern Illinois Foodbank to hungry area families. The distribution will be held at Sullivan VFW on State Highway 32 from 10 a.m.-noon March 12. All Moultrie County residents who meet income eligibility criteria are welcome. Those attending are asked to bring bags or boxes to transport food. A representative from Eastern Illinois Foodbank will be present to assist families and individuals interested in applying for SNAP benefits. … Read More

More than 100 people participated in Moultrie County Homemakers Extension Assn. Day Feb. 21 at the Masonic Temple. Morning activities included self improvement presentations from Emilee Best of Merle Norman on makeup and Shirley Beck of Dr. Tom Best’s office on different types of eyewear. City Increases Website Offerings to Citizens

One, a citizen problem reporter, allows citizens to report animal, park or utility problems from their computer or cell phone. They may sign in via Twitter or Facebook. Seniors Step Up for Win Over Clinton

In the seniors’ final home game Ty Molzen led all scorers with 23 points and nine rebounds, and Alec Ballinger tallied 18 points to go with with assists. •February 24, 2016• Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knight basketball beat Sangamon Valley’s Storm 44-42 in Friday, Feb 19 action in Arthur. The Knights’ better shooting percentage from the field 16-34 to the Storm’s 16-44 was a boost to team performance. ALAH hit 3-6 three pointers by three players with Sangamon Valley hitting 5-19 three pointers. Free throw percentage was 64 for ALAH hitting 9-14 with the Storm making 5-15.
