Charleston Hands Sullivan Girls a Loss

•January 20, 2016• The trip to Charleston found Sullivan’s girls’ basketball team faced with a 75-27 loss. “Charleston is a very disciplined and fundamental team,” coach Sheri McCain said of the game, noting that turning the ball over 32 times told the tale of the Redskin loss. Charleston started the first quarter 16-2 over the Redskins. The 22-12 second quarter put the Trojans ahead 38-14 at the half. Overtime Victory for Knights at Shiloh

•January 20, 2016• Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights scored a 47-45 overtime victory against the Tri-County Titans Friday, January 15. The Knight’s trip to Shiloh proved to be a good matchup as the Titans matched ALAH’s free throw percentage at 66.7. They were better from the three point line with 33.3 percent compared to ALAH’s 25 percent, but the tale was told in field goals as the Knights shot 41.9 percent to the Titans 33.3 percent. ALAH Takes LSA in LOVC Tournament Play

•January 20, 2016• Host team Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond was the 71-52 winner over the Lutheran School Association during LOVC tournament action in Arthur January 18. Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond’s girls came on strong with a 23-14 first quarter over the LSA Lions. LSA recovered  with a 17-15 second quarter which put the Knights ahead 38-31 at the half. ALAH dominated the third quarter with an 18-7 run over the Lions. The fourth quarter was 15-10 Knights with the final 71-52 over the LSA girls. Donation Makes Pet Adoption Easier in Moultrie County

•January 20, 2016• A donation to the Moultrie County Animal Shelter could make adopting a pet easier following Moultrie County Board action January 14. Arlene Aschermann, chair of public health, safety and welfare presented terms to accept a $10,114 donation from the David A. Woodruff Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust, to be used for  animal control. Aschermann’s moved to accept $10,114 from the David A Woodruff CRAT to expended only for the sole ad exclusive benefit of the Moutlrie County Animal Control Department for the purpose of increasing pet adoptions and decreasing rate of euthanasia including without limitation, costs of spaying, neutering, … Read More

Sullivan Schools Funding Prospects from State Get ISEB Boost

•January 20, 2016• Sullivan schools faces funding challenges since the state has failed to meet obligations to local districts, but there is a glimmer of hope that may change. District #300 superintendent Brad Tuttle told school board members  during the regular January 11 meeting that there is a call for fully funding school districts for the first time in five years. Tuttle explained that the Illinois State Board of Education passed a state budget that called for increased General State Aid (GSA).
