Karen Woods New Director of Get Covered Illinois

•January 13, 2016• The Illinois Department of Insurance (DOI) has announced Karen Woods as the new director of Get Covered Illinois (GCI), the Illinois Health Insurance Marketplace that has enrolled nearly one million people in quality health coverage since it launched in 2013. “I am excited to assume the leadership role for Get Covered Illinois and work with the GCI team,” said Woods. “I look forward to enhancing the opportunity for residents of Illinois to have access to the quality healthcare they need.” … Read More

Tickets You Can Read  •January 13, 2016• By Mike Brothers The days of trying to decipher a police officer’s handwriting on a traffic citation are over in Moultrie County. The Moultrie County Circuit Clerk’s office became the first office in the sixth judicial circuit to implement eCitations. Circuit Clerk Cindy Braden explained the eCitation program is up and running in Bethany, Lovington and Sullivan police departments as well as the Moultrie County Sheriff’s Department. For the March 15 General Primary Election •January 13, 2016• Citizens who are not registered to vote and cannot leave their home or nursing home facility because of a permanent physical disability may arrange for voter registration and voting by contacting the Moultrie County Clerk’s office. The last day to register to vote before the March 15 General Primary Election is Tuesday, February 16 with the exception of grace period registrations and transfers between February 17 through election day. Eleanor Snyder Nolia Eleanor Snyder, 88, of Bethany passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016, in her home in Bethany. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday in First Christian Church in Bethany. Burial was in Marrowbone Township Cemetery in Bethany. McMullin-Young Funeral Home assisted with arrangements. Eleanor was born January 9, 1927, in Lovington, the daughter of Otho and Vivian Gladville Snyder. She was a member of First Christian Church in Bethany. Courthouse Chimney Comes Down

•January 13, 2016• The building and grounds committee of the Moultrie County Board met January 6 and voted to recommend removal of a dilapidated courthouse chimney. Maintenance director Rick Matthews explained that recent rain had indicated the unused courthouse chimney was the site of water infiltration inside the building. Oblong Panthers Win Over ALAH Knights at Oblong

•January 13, 2016• The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights traveled to Oblong January 8 with the Panthers winning 49-37. The Knights scored eight points in the first quarter while Oblong answered with 14 points. At the end of the half the Panthers were up 26-15. Oblong scored 11 points in the third to ALAH’s eight with the Knights coming back in the fourth scoring 14 to the Panthers 12 points, but it was not enough to get the 49-37 win from the home team. … Read More

•January 13, 2016• Tuscola’s Lady Warriors outscored the ALAH Lady Knights 66-59 January 11. Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond scored 12 to the Warriors 13 in the first quarter. In the second quarter the Lady Knights went on a 21-10 run over the Warriors to head in to the half ahead 33-23. Tuscola came out of the half scoring 19-10 on ALAH in the third quarter. Okaw Valley Lady Timberwolves Hold Off Windsor Stew Stras Hatchets

•January 13, 2016• Okaw Valley Lady Timberwolves held off the Windsor Stew Stras Hatchets 53-51 in home court action January 7. The Lady Timberwolves came out strong in the first quarter, outscoring the Hatchets 18-7. The tide turned in the second quarter with Windsor Stew Stras scoring 18 to Okaw Valley’s five, going into the half time ahead 25-23. Okaw Valley came back in the third, scoring 12 points to the Hatchets eight. Windsor Stew Stras outscored the Lady Timberwolves in the fourth 18-13 but it was not quite enough for the win.
