Back Seat Passengers Still Not Buckling Up •December 9, 2015• With new survey results showing rear seat belt usage still lagging behind front seat occupants, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and Illinois State Police (ISP) are reminding the public that anyone who rides in a motor vehicle needs to buckle up, no matter where they are sitting. Delbert Dick Delbert Buxton Dick, 92, of Windsor, passed away peacefully in his sleep at 9 a.m. December 6, 2015 in St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by family members. Delbert was born January 8, 1923 on the family farm near Pierson, Ill. to W. E. and Bertha Buxton Dick. He married Evelyn Moody in 1947 in Arthur. Delbert and Evelyn had two children before Evelyn passed away from polio in 1953. He married Charlene Haws in 1963, and she preceded him in death. •December 9, 2015• Okaw Valley Timberwolves won 50-40 over the Shelbyville Rams Dec. 4. Leading the Okaw Valley team scoring was Connor Cloyd. The 6’3” junior had eight field goals and one free throw for 17 points. He pulled down eight rebounds and had a steal. Senior forward Drew Fruchtl had two field goals, shot five for five free throws for nine points while adding ten rebounds for the night. •December 9, 2015• Sullivan Okaw Valley football Redskin Alec Ballinger was selected for Honorable Mention on the All State Illinois High School Coaches Association team for 2015 In addition he was selected to the News Gazette First team, All Area Championship as the punter. •December 9, 2015• Lovington Village Board met November 2 with Jan Harner updating the board on the live nativity at the Life Center from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, December 20. They explained the Church of God sponsored event on West State Street will be a walk through and not a drive by. About 60 volunteers will help as shepherds lead the visitors to the nativity.
