Farm Grants to be Awarded

•September 23, 2015• America’s Farmers Grow Communities will partner again with farmers to award more than $3.3 million to community nonprofits across the country. In Illinois, 97 organizations will receive donations in 2016. Sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, the program’s purpose is to make a positive impact in rural communities by giving farmers a chance to direct $2,500 donations to eligible nonprofit organizations of their choice. Farmer enrollment for Grow Communities kicked off on Aug. 1 and runs through Nov. 30, 2015. •September 23, 2015• By Matt Kracht NP Sports Reporter Sullivan-Okaw Valley football bounced back with a 49-21 win over conference rival Warrensburg Latham on Friday night. It was Okaw Valley homecoming and Real Men Wear Pink Night in Sullivan to make the win sweeter. Ty Molzen racked up 300 yards passing, and Alec Ballinger scored three touchdowns in a pair of all-conference performances. Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan handled arrangements. She passed away at 3 a.m. Friday September 18, 2015 in Aspen Creek in Sullivan. Betty was born April 27, 1931 in Moweaqua, the daughter of Irvin and Naomi Waddell Wicker. She was a member of Sullivan First Christian Church. Prayer Vigil on Life Chain

•September 23, 2015• Sullivan Country Club was host to Altamont and Arcola Arthur-Lovinton/Atwood-Hammond golfers Sept. 21 with Sullivan shooting 180 for the win.
