Scott J. Long, 66, of Sullivan, IL, died February 8, 2025, in his home.Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2025, in Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua. A visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Burial will be in Westside Cemetery, Moweaqua. Memorials may be made to Moultrie County Paws.Scott was born on June 4, 1958, in Decatur, IL, the son of Paul J. and Mabel (Foreman) Long. Lady Redskins continue regular season dominance

•February 5, 2025• by E. Scott England Coming off the high of winning the LPC conference championship, the Lady Redskins wasted no time resuming their regular season dominance. And the play started with a rematch against the Cumberland Pirates. Cumberland gave Sullivan a run for their money in the conference championship. S, no OV in the future; Sullivan nixes 20+ year co-op

Scott England Over twenty years ago, Sullivan and, then, just Bethany, formed a co-op to give access to sports for students who would not normally be granted such an opportunity. For Bethany, this meant that those desiring to play football would indeed have the opportunity. For the longest time, the co-op was just called Sullivan/Bethany, but colloquially was known just as the Sullivan Redskins. Eventually, in 2001 Bethany and Findlay merged to become Okaw Valley. 2015 The Sullivan Chamber & Economic Development awarded Small Business of the Year to the Briarwood at the annual dinner. Business of the Year was awarded to Petersen Health Care. Citizen of the Year was awarded to Larry Stenger and the Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Ron White. One Knights’ fan traveled 1200 miles to see the Little Okaw Valley Conference championship game against the Hutsonville-Palestine Tigers in Arcola. ALAH made sure that fan, Danny Powell, left with a smile, defeating the Tigers 69-51. … Read More

On Route 133 between Lovington and Arthur, power poles fell as a result of the storm systems that hit central Illinois in two waves on Wednesday, June 17th. These storms left many without power and caused widespread damage throughout the area, including confirmed tornado touchdowns in nearby counties.
