Sullivan Dance Studio’s competition team hosts preview show

Sullivan Dance Studio Competition Team hosted their annual Preview Showcase in Sullivan Elementary School’s Gym on Sunday, January 19. Friends, family and the public were invited to attend. Educational Lunch for Girls

Illinois Department of Revenue announces start of income tax season

Eligible taxpayers will be able to use free, direct file tax option •January 29, 2025• The 2025 tax season has started, and the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) announced recently it has begin accepting and processing 2025 tax returns. Illinois is participating in the IRS Direct File program this year. Eligible taxpayers will be able to use the program to electronically complete their 2024 federal tax returns for free. Eligibility can be confirmed by visiting https://directfile.irs.gov . Lady Redskins are Lincoln Prairie Conference Champions!

Scott England After a week-long conference tournament hosted by Okaw Valley, the Lady Redskins prevailed victorious last Saturday night with their third tournament win that earned them the hardware.  The first win of the week came on Monday against Unity Christian. The strong defense really came out in the second quarter as the girls didn’t allow the Lions to score again until the third quarter. IL Sheriffs’ Association announces scholarship

•January 29, 2025• The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association recently announced that it will be awarding over $58,000 in college scholarships throughout the State of Illinois to students wishing to pursue higher education during the 2025-2026 academic year. The scholarships are to be applied to tuition, books, and fees only. The student must be enrolled full-time at a certified institution of higher learning within the State of Illinois. Socks for Soldiers

•January 29, 2025• The East Central Illinois Red Cross Club is holding a Socks for Soldiers drive from February 1 – 16.  New adult-sized socks of any kind may be brought to the SHS/SMS and SES offices, sent to school with SHS, SMS, or SES students for their class competitions, or donated at the SHS basketball games on February 3 and 10. On Route 133 between Lovington and Arthur, power poles fell as a result of the storm systems that hit central Illinois in two waves on Wednesday, June 17th. These storms left many without power and caused widespread damage throughout the area, including confirmed tornado touchdowns in nearby counties.
