2014 The Lady Redskins improved to 6-0 on the season and maintained their number 14 ranking in Class 2A with a 51-27 over the Lady Knights. Sullivan’s Brittin Boyer went off for 27 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The Sullivan boys’ basketball faced Jerseyville and nearly pulled off the upset in Reederbowl 1. Brothers Stote and Chester Reeder faced off as coaches in the 49-47 battle. Food pantry fundraiser

Last Friday was pick-up day for the 13th annual hand dipped chocolate fundraiser for the Moultrie County Food Pantry. Friends of the Moultrie County Food Pantry sent out order forms to past fundraiser customers and made extra forms available for new customers and the Flesor’s Candy Kitchen in Tuscola donated 20% of sales from those orders. The candy was delivered to Cathrine’s Gallery Gifts and More in Sullivan so those who ordered could come pick up their sweet treats. … Read More

Uneventful school board meeting; Biggest discussion again centered around sports

•December 11, 2024• by E. Scott England The Sullivan CUSD #300 school board held its regularly scheduled December meeting this past Monday. Both Zachary Hughes and Joshue Green were absent. There were far fewer guests than the previous month as well as no volunteers to talk during the citizen non-agenda items. The evening got started with updates from the Spanish Club. They have been quite busy collecting nonperishable items for families in need. Christmas toy and treat drive

•December 11, 2024• The Moultrie County Animal Shelter has began their 2024 Christmas drive for both treats and toys for the animals in their care. The second year of this drive asks for donations for the pets at the shelter, while home to both cats and dogs has posted wishlists for their fluffy friends. All donations will directly benefit the pound pets at the shelter.   The wishlist provided for the critters includes bones, Pupperoni treats, dog canned food, cat canned food, kong toys, tug ropes, slow feeder bowls, kitten canned food, cat litter and dental sticks. On Route 133 between Lovington and Arthur, power poles fell as a result of the storm systems that hit central Illinois in two waves on Wednesday, June 17th. These storms left many without power and caused widespread damage throughout the area, including confirmed tornado touchdowns in nearby counties.
