Veteran’s celebrated with song

•November 13, 2024• Parents, Guardians and Veteran’s filled the gym floor and bleachers to watch the students perform the songs they had been practicing just for the Veteran’s. Veteran’s Day celebrates those who have served in the defense of the United States and for those who passed fighting for us. The holiday dates back to 1918, the end of World War I, when Former President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed November 11th as the first commemoration of Armistice Day. Skyler Sieving hired as new Arthur Police Sergeant

•November 13, 2024• by Ariana R Cherry An executive session of the board was held to discuss the hiring and compensation of a full-time officer for the Arthur Police Department Sergeant position  Candidate Skyler Sieving was approved for the position at an hourly rate of $33/ hour. He was sworn in before the board.  The board also approved a 50/50 economic development grant to the Arthur Association of Commerce in the amount of $1,432.50. On Route 133 between Lovington and Arthur, power poles fell as a result of the storm systems that hit central Illinois in two waves on Wednesday, June 17th. These storms left many without power and caused widespread damage throughout the area, including confirmed tornado touchdowns in nearby counties.
