•August 21, 2024• Lake Shelbyville‘s Tree Stand Policy for this year will remain the same as it was last season. The policy allows hunters to leave one stand up for the season (“Seasonal Tree Stand”) and/or utilize up to two “Roving” stands that can be left up during archery season for a period not to exceed a break in use greater than 72 hours – the length of a 3 day weekend. Lake Land College Board of Trustee election

•August 14, 2024• The Lake Land College Community College District No. 517 Trustee Election will be held April 1, 2025, as part of the 2025 consolidated election. Two six-year terms and one four-year unexpired term will appear on the Lake Land College ballot.   The two six-year terms are currently held by Kevin Curtis, Mattoon and Dave Storm, Effingham.  Larry Lilly, Mattoon, was appointed in March 2024 to fill the vacancy created by Mr. Mike Sullivan’s resignation. On Route 133 between Lovington and Arthur, power poles fell as a result of the storm systems that hit central Illinois in two waves on Wednesday, June 17th. These storms left many without power and caused widespread damage throughout the area, including confirmed tornado touchdowns in nearby counties.
