Water recreation safety should concern everyone. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently released a Vital Signs study. 2014 The Buxton family rushed a large delivery of corn up to Chicago last fall after receiving a request from the movie set of the latest Transformer’s film.  Avid outdoorsman Joe Florini of Sullivan was recognized by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources for his 35-plus years of volunteer outreach by way of gun safety classes he helped teach and organize in Moultrie and surrounding counties. Splash Pad success, power outage discussed at city council

•July 10, 2024• by Sharon Barricklow The Sullivan City Council held their first meeting in July Monday night, after moving the date to accommodate the July 4 holiday. In a wide ranging agenda, the council discussed recent successes and potential changes in city services. Sullivan brother and sister become UTA National Champions 2 years in a row

•July 10, 2024• Submitted by Dawn Kelley Austin and Annika Kelley of Sullivan went to the UTA (United Taekwondo Alliance) National Championships on June 21st and 22nd in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This was their second trip to nationals. Last year Austin was the 13 to 17 year-old boys board breaking National champion and this year he became 13 to 15 year-old Advanced Color Belt Traditional  Weapons National Champion. Weapons comes very natural to Austin. Justin Florey and Erik Stollard were the two absent board members. Those present managed to navigate the meeting in sixteen minutes due to little to no discussion on all agenda items. On Route 133 between Lovington and Arthur, power poles fell as a result of the storm systems that hit central Illinois in two waves on Wednesday, June 17th. These storms left many without power and caused widespread damage throughout the area, including confirmed tornado touchdowns in nearby counties.
