Boys track cruise to easy victory in rain shortened meet; girls take second

•April 24, 2024• by E. Scott England   The entire Midwest was watching the weather radar last Tuesday as storms swept most of the area. For Sullivan, they were hoping the rain would continue to hold out so they could get their Tri-County track meet in plus honor the seniors of this year. Unfortunately, with the second heat of girls in the blocks for the 400m relay, lightning let loose triggering the 30 minute relay. On Route 133 between Lovington and Arthur, power poles fell as a result of the storm systems that hit central Illinois in two waves on Wednesday, June 17th. These storms left many without power and caused widespread damage throughout the area, including confirmed tornado touchdowns in nearby counties.
