Sullivan softball struggles continue; one win on the week

•April 24, 2024• by E. Scott England   Even with inclement weather scattered around central Illinois, Sullivan softball was still able to get in all seven games scheduled. Unfortunately, after posting a win in the first game of the week, the ladies found themselves on the losing side of the column for the remaining six games. Energy futures discussed at city council

•April 24, 2024• By Sharon Barricklow Where Sullivan gets its energy and how to make sure it keeps coming was the main topic of discussion at the Sullivan City Council meeting last Thursday. The council heard a presentation from representatives of the Illinois Municipal Electric Agency. The non profit IMEA currently acts as the agent supplying Sullivan’s electrical power with a contract through 2035. The agency is asking the council to consider adding years to the contract, making it effective through 2050. On Route 133 between Lovington and Arthur, power poles fell as a result of the storm systems that hit central Illinois in two waves on Wednesday, June 17th. These storms left many without power and caused widespread damage throughout the area, including confirmed tornado touchdowns in nearby counties.
