Lady Redskins Open Season 1-1; Coach McCain Secures 200th Win

•November 22, 2023• by E. Scott England The Lady Redskins opened their 2023-2024 season last Tuesday on the road in Rochester. The Lady Rockets were a dominant team last year going 27-8 and drawing a tough first round opponent in the playoffs that sent them packing early. While Rochester prevailed in the end 41-30, the Lady Redskins demonstrated they are not a team to be taken lightly this year. Sullivan Christmas Parade

•November 22, 2023• There will be a variety of activities in downtown Sullivan on Saturday, December 1 starting at 4 pm prior to the lighted Christmas parade. There will be free s’mores, fun food trucks, horse pulled wagon rides and kids activities. Visit Santa in his house near the pavilion before and after the parade. 2013  The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Lancers won by a slim margin after holding a double digit lead at halftime over Casey-Westfield. History repeated itself the next day. The Lancers held a 21-11 lead at the break over Monticello at Arthur, due in large part to eight points from junior guard Emily Seegmiller in the second quarter.  Owner and operator of Sullivan McDonald’s Angie Matlock donated a $500 check to the Moultrie County Food Pantry, which in turn used the money to purchase turkeys for the Thanksgiving holiday. … Read More

Clayton Receives Scholarship

•November 22, 2023• Lakeview College of Nursing in Danville and Charleston, announced numerous scholarship awards for the Fall 2023 semester. Dakota Clayton, of Sullivan, received the LCN Transfer Need-Based Scholarship. Clayton attends classes on Lakeview’s Charleston campus. Lakeview College of Nursing Scholarships are made possible by generous donations to the College’s scholarship endowment fund. Though they weren’t talking about it, many knew that senior Claire Seal was within reach of her 1,000th point in varsity action.
