2013  A storm, which was responsible for approximately 80 reports of tornadoes including those near the Altamont, Tuscola and Gifford areas left Moultrie County by comparison in relatively good shape. Nonetheless, parts of the county did suffer extensive damage from what is generally believed as straight line winds. At least three machine sheds housing farm equipment were severely damaged and a nearby radio tower was also downed. In Bethany, there were several reports of hail damage and in Findlay the village was without power. Between 15-20 power poles were either downed or damaged outside of Findlay due the storm. City Council has First Reading of Levy and Assessment of Taxes

•November 15, 2023• by Crystal Reed The Sullivan City Council had a first reading of the levy and assessment of taxes for the City of Sullivan during the Monday, November 13 meeting. The ordinance states that the total amount of appropriations for the tax levy is $51,369.350. The amount of 1,321,679 is levied upon all the taxable property in the City of Sullivan subject to taxation for the current fiscal year. Rotary Makes Donation to Team IMPACT

2023 Veterans Day Art and Writing Contest Winners Announced

•November 15, 2023• The Sullivan American Legion Auxiliary Unit #68 recently presented awards to several Sullivan students who competed in their 2023 Veterans Day Art and Writing Contest. Junior Taylar Mercer won the 11th and 12th grade art division with her piece entitled “A Proud Veteran.” Her drawing combines two images of John James. According to her creator’s statement that, “He was an African-American World War II veteran who was denied an officer position for 76 years due to his race. •November 15, 2023• Members of One Book One Sullivan read diligently all summer long, reading a book from the Rebecca Caudill book list each week. The group’s goal is to choose a book that would be enjoyable to readers of all ages in Sullivan and the surrounding communities.
