•January 17, 2024• The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is currently accepting applications for the 2024 DCFS Scholarship Program. Through the program, a minimum of 53 academic scholarships will be awarded to current and former youth in care for the upcoming school year, with four awards reserved for the children of veterans and two reserved for students pursuing degrees in social work in honor of Pamela Knight and Deidre Silas, two DCFS caseworkers who succumbed to injuries sustained in the line of duty. 2014 Moultrie County senior citizens showed up en masse at a meeting held by the East Central Illinois Area Agency on Aging at Sullivan First United Methodist Church. Most of those in attendance were there to voice their avid support of Sullivan’s Mid-Illinois Senior Services and Community Center and their disapproval of any measure to cut funding to it or change its services.  Revenge was in the forefront of the Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Lancers’ minds in their LOVC tournament opener against Villa Grove-Heritage. Much in the way sign language was established as a method of communication for the deaf, Braille helped to open entire worlds of possibility for those with partial or complete vision loss.
