The speaker emphasized that if a writer really wants to develop his talent the best place to start is newspaper writing. 25 Years Ago This Week Bethany’s urgent storm sewer renovation project received a $200,000 boost from the federal government. Before an audience of about 25, Congressman Glenn Poshard and U.S. Dept of Agriculture representative Wallce Furrow presented Bethany’s present and former mayors, Joann Grove and Don Gibbons, with a check symbolizing the award. The money was used to help replace a disintegrating storm sewer system in Bethany’s business district. … Read More

•January 4, 2023• June Memorial Day services were held in Sullivan, Bethany, Findlay and Windsor. At the ceremony in Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan, Mayor Richard Glazebrook spoke. In Bethany the service was held at Marrowbone Township Cemetery and the speaker was Pastor Rob Roy. Kristi Hart was appointed as Planning and Zoning Director at the May meeting of the Moultrie County Board. Hart was born in Bethany and has four daughters. ALAH held their commencement on the football field. Valedictorian was Jacob Duzan and salutatorian Max Allen. Seth Webner built a bus shelter to keep students waiting for the school … Read More

Sullivan celebrates America’s 250th

The annual Fourth of July parade kicked off a fun filled day of celebration hosted by the Sullivan American Legion Saturday.  Wyman Park was the next destination for the always entertaining watermelon eating contest, turtle races and sack races. At dusk, an amazing fireworks display capped off the festivities. More photos can be found on page 12.
