City Council Approves Purchase of 2023 Ford Explorer for Police Department

•January 4, 2023• by Crystal Reed The Sullivan City Council held their last meeting of 2022 Wednesday, December 28. The only item of new business was waiving the bidding and approving the purchase of a 2023 Ford Explorer for the Police Department. Commissioners Abbey Sherwood and Doug Booker were absent. Bob Ingram addressed the council in regard to why they did not go out for bid on the purchase. Human Trafficking Awareness Month

•January 4, 2023• January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month, and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) is partnering with The Power Project to train group home and residential care facility staff across Illinois on how to identify, intervene and prevent human trafficking among their youth in treatment. •January 4, 2023• Moultrie County Monthly Quarter Madness will hold their January Quarter Auction on Wednesday,January 11, 2023. The event will be held at the Sullivan American Legion. Moultrie County Illinois PAWS is the charity of the month (find them on Facebook at “Moultrie County Illinois PAWs”). Moultrie County PAWS uses funds for companion animals in need of discretionary care and treatment. They also assist inidentifying and returning stray animals to their owners. Amish Country Tractor Cruise Comes to an End

•January 4, 2023• The Amish Country Tractor Cruise will not be held in 2023 and there are no plans to have the cruise in future years. “My interests have changed.” says Jim Fleming, Director and Co-Founder of the cruise which started in 2010. Sullivan celebrates America’s 250th

The annual Fourth of July parade kicked off a fun filled day of celebration hosted by the Sullivan American Legion Saturday.  Wyman Park was the next destination for the always entertaining watermelon eating contest, turtle races and sack races. At dusk, an amazing fireworks display capped off the festivities. More photos can be found on page 12.
