Little Theatre On The Square Preparing for Summer Season

•May 11, 2022• by Crystal Reed NP Writer The Little Theatre On The Square is looking forward to their summer season which opens June 2 with Mamma Mia! Executive Director and Producer John Stephens said that currently the mask mandate for the theatre is not in effect but they cannot sell the first two rows of seats in the theatre for any of the shows for the protection of their actors and the audience. City Council Raises Gas, Water and Sewer Rates

•May 11, 2022• by Crystal Reed NP Writer The Sullivan City Council approved rate changes for gas, water and sewer during Monday’s meeting. An item for changes to electric rates was also on the agenda but will be discussed at the next meeting. The motion for rate changes to gas rate was a proposed increase of 4%. Mayor Richard Glazebrook said in discussion that if they had to go on the market and buy, it would cost more and added that they have not raised rates in 10 or 11 years. Handschin Eligible to Graduate

•May 11, 2022• Joshua Handschin of Atwood is a candidate to graduate from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Handschin is eligible to earn a degree from Utah State University and is among the 6,588 students eligible to receive degrees and certificates from USU’s statewide campuses or USU Online. The 2022 graduating class includes graduates from summer and fall 2021 and spring 2022 semesters. USU Statewide campuses have held graduation ceremonies through the past several weeks. Phi Kappa Phi Inducts New Members

•May 11, 2022• The following people recently were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Kelsey Hertz of Dalton City at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Victoria Cisneros of Mattoon at Bradley University were initiated. They are among approximately 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. •May 11, 2022• A candidate forum for the upcoming election will be held on Wednesday, May 18 in the Sullivan Middle School gym. Doors open at 5:30 pm with the forum beginning at 6 pm. •May 11, 2022• Mobile home privilege taxes are due Monday, May 16. Taxes may be mailed to Moultrie County Collector, 10S. Main Suite 10, Sullivan, IL 61951. Taxes may also be paid at all Moultrie County banks and Scott State Bank in Mt. Zion. Office hours at 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Sullivan celebrates America’s 250th

The annual Fourth of July parade kicked off a fun filled day of celebration hosted by the Sullivan American Legion Saturday.  Wyman Park was the next destination for the always entertaining watermelon eating contest, turtle races and sack races. At dusk, an amazing fireworks display capped off the festivities. More photos can be found on page 12.
