•May 4, 2022• Submitted by Anamary Bicknell PAHCE Public Relations The PAHCE (Moultrie-Douglas) Units have continued to meet with some precautions due to COVID. Sixty-eight members had paid dues by January 31, 2022. The Prairie Association for Home & Community Education (Moultrie & Douglas Counties) held their Annual Meeting on April 21, 2022. Sullivan Dance Studio’s Competition Team attends Rainbow 2022 Competition

•May 4, 2022• Sullivan Dance Studio’s Competition Team attended their final competition of the year April 2-3, 2022 at the Rialto Square Theater in Joliet, Illinois. The team had dancers in numerous sessions and categories at the event. Fabulous 50’s, the Production Number received 1st Overall Line Winner, Judge’s Choice “Bop Til You Drop It,” NYC All Stars Award and a Double Platinum Rating. ALAH FFA Alumni Awards $2,000 in Scholarships

•May 4, 2022• Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond (ALAH) FFA Alumni has selected four students to receive scholarships for the 2022 – 23. The chapter’s purpose is “to provide leadership, mentoring, and financial assistance to the agricultural education program at Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond High School.” The scholarship fund receives donations, fundraising, proceeds from the variety test plot hosted by Jeff Davis of Hammond, proceed from the Land Lab donated by Masterbrand Cabinets, and proceeds from the Amish Country Tractor Cruise. Operation Lifesaver Celebrates 50 Years of Rail Safety Education

•May 4, 2022• In Illinois last year, approximately 103 people were killed or injured in grade crossing and trespassing incidents. Illinois Operation Lifesaver works to prevent these needless incidents from happening through public awareness campaigns, education programs and free rail safety presentations. Operation Lifesaver, the non-profit rail safety education and awareness organization dedicated to reducing collisions, fatalities and injuries at highway-rail crossings and preventing trespassing on or near railroad tracks, is observing its 50th anniversary in 2022. Over the past five decades, Operation Lifesaver and its safety partners have helped reduce railroad crossing incidents by 84 percent across the nation. … Read More

Bethany and Sullivan being Awarded Safe  Routes to School awards

•May 4, 2022• Gov. JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Transportation recently announced $12.3 million in grants for local projects that will help boost the health and safety of children via safer walking and biking routes to school. The Safe Routes to School program is funding 57 projects selected from 102 applications received from municipalities and schools across the state. The Village of Bethany’s project will impact the Okaw Valley Elementary School. Sullivan celebrates America’s 250th

The annual Fourth of July parade kicked off a fun filled day of celebration hosted by the Sullivan American Legion Saturday.  Wyman Park was the next destination for the always entertaining watermelon eating contest, turtle races and sack races. At dusk, an amazing fireworks display capped off the festivities. More photos can be found on page 12.
