•October 20, 2021• The No Kids Left in the Cold Coat Giveaway in honor of Margie Pondo is now accepting donations of new and clean used coats as well as hats and gloves. The coat giveaway was started 7 year ago and Margie Pondo joined about three years ago. Last May, Margie passed away. Last year they gave away 300 new coats and they anticipate 400-500 coats to be given out this year. They carry up to size 20 coats for children. SCEF Receives Gift from Estate

•October 20, 2021• The Sullivan Community Education Foundation provides grants for school and community needs each year. One of the ways to contribute to SCEF is through estate planning. The SCEF wishes to acknowledge the generous gift of $86,000, from the estate of Lloyd and Helen Maurer. The Maurers’ were former Sullivan residents. Mr. Maurer was a farmer for over 40 years and a gifted golfer. Mrs. Maurer taught elementary grades at Lowe School for 25 years and retired in 1982. They were the parents of sons, Gary and Joel. Food Pantry Candy Fundraiser now Accepting Candy Orders

Donald Leon Briscoe Donald Leon Briscoe, 86, of Sullivan, passed away 3:06 p.m. Sunday, October 17, 2021, at his home in Sullivan. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in Sullivan. Face masks are suggested and please practice social distancing for the services. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be made to the Lymphoma Foundation. “Together, We Give Back to School”

Sullivan Elementary School recently received 60 backpacks filled with school supplies through Amazon’s “Together, We Give Back to School” campaign. End of the Line Tackle & Bait, an Amazon delivery partner, nominated Sullivan Elementary for the program, and the school’s submission was selected to receive the donation. Pictured (left to right) are Cameron Martin, Taylor Lilly, James Martin, Marla Martin and Angela McRill following the July 27 delivery.
