John Booker John D. Booker, 86, of Lovington passed away 9:59 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at his home in Lovington. Graveside services will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Keller Cemetery, Lovington. McMullin-Young Funeral Home, is in care of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Experimental Aircraft Association. John was born September 10, 1934, in Sullivan; the son of Virgil and Stella May (Hughes) Booker. He married Joyce A. (Harlin) Morgan on September 8, 1978 in Sullivan; she preceded him in death on October 1, 2010. John served in the United States Navy. He … Read More

•May 12, 2021• Girls’ Track and Field The Sullivan girls’ track and field team competed in two meets this past week. The Redskins won a quadrangular at Cumberland and took first place in a Central Illinois Conference quadrangular. “It was a great first meet for both boys and girls,” said Sullivan track and field coach Kali Taylor. “On the girls side, I have a lot of sophomores that hadn’t participated in a high school track meet yet, and they were very nervous, but performed very well. Competition Team Attends Competition

•May 12, 2021• Sullivan Dance Studio’s Competition Team attended their final competition of the year April 16-18 in St. Louis. The team had dancers in four different sessions categories at the Star Systems Dance Competition. Specialty numbers began the team’s competition Saturday morning. All received Elite High Gold ratings. In the age 10-12 category, Elizabeth Owens and Miah Voegel received 2nd Place overall with their “I’m Number One” Musical Theater duet and Gabrielle Carpenter, Avery Renfro and Korry Thilker’s Musical Theater Trio received 5th Place overall. Pritzker Announces Plans for Broader Reopening

•May 12, 2021• By Capitol News Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker said Thursday that Illinois will enter the “bridge” phase to full reopening on Friday, May 14. And barring any reversal of current trends, Phase 5, or full reopening, will begin on June 11. He also announced that residents can now obtain COVID-19 vaccines from their physicians’ offices, rather than just designated vaccine sites, as public health officials continue to confront hesitancy within many communities to accept the vaccines. Sullivan Elementary School recently received 60 backpacks filled with school supplies through Amazon’s “Together, We Give Back to School” campaign. End of the Line Tackle & Bait, an Amazon delivery partner, nominated Sullivan Elementary for the program, and the school’s submission was selected to receive the donation. Pictured (left to right) are Cameron Martin, Taylor Lilly, James Martin, Marla Martin and Angela McRill following the July 27 delivery.
