Higher education staff, government workers, media members eligible starting Monday •March 24, 2021• By Peter Hancock Capitol News Illinois phancock@capitolnewsillinois.com The Illinois Department of Public Health announced Friday that more groups of people will be eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccinations ahead of April 12 when everyone over age 16 will become eligible. City Council Awards Bid For Corey Avenue Project

•March 24, 2021• By Crystal Reed NP Writer Sullivan City Council awarded a bid of $96,320.41 for the Corey Avenue Enhancement project during Monday’s meeting to Esker and Walker Construction of Teutopolis. The council also approved the preliminary plat for the subdivision of Hagerman Street Addition. During a Planning Commission meeting held on March 11, Joe Keller of Keller Warehouse LLC explained there would be six lots that would adjoin Hagerman Street. Sullivan Loses to Meridian in Football, Posts Win in Volleyball

•March 24, 2021• by Jason Brown NP Sports This past week, the Sullivan/Okaw Valley football and volleyball teams kicked off what should have been their fall season sports. The Redskin football and volleyball teams each competed against a Central Illinois Conference foe, the Meridian Hawks. Football The football team hosted Meridian at Victory Field Friday night. Sullivan fell behind 6-0 with about five minutes left in the first quarter when the Meridian quarterback kept the ball for a seven-yard rushing touchdown. “Together, We Give Back to School”

Sullivan Elementary School recently received 60 backpacks filled with school supplies through Amazon’s “Together, We Give Back to School” campaign. End of the Line Tackle & Bait, an Amazon delivery partner, nominated Sullivan Elementary for the program, and the school’s submission was selected to receive the donation. Pictured (left to right) are Cameron Martin, Taylor Lilly, James Martin, Marla Martin and Angela McRill following the July 27 delivery.
