OV Girls’ Basketball Wins One, Drops One

•March 10, 2021• by Jason Brown NP Sports The Okaw Valley girls’ basketball defeated Blue Ridge Saturday and LSA Friday but fell to Tri-County last Monday. Against Blue Ridge Saturday, the Timberwolves took a 16-7 first quarter lead and then extended that lead to 34-16 halftime lead. Okaw Valley outscored the Knights 14-5 in the third quarter on its way to a 59-29 win. Mia Harris scored a team-leading 17 points for the Timberwolves. SHS Alumna Receives Going Above and Beyond Award

Emilie Sanders Lee was born and raised in Sullivan and graduated from Sullivan High School. After graduating from high school, she attended and graduated from Loyola University of Chicago. She and her husband spent a few years in Santa Monica, California and then six years in the San Francisco Bay area where they had their two daughters. LLC to Hold Tuition and Fees for 2021-2022 Academic Year

Rose Crawley Rose Anna Crawley, 74, of Dalton City, passed away March 7, 2021, in Decatur Memorial Hospital. Rose was born February 5, 1947, in Oconee, Illinois, the daughter of Clyde Ewin Hicks and Mildred Virginia (Eller) Hicks. Rose married Raymond Larry Dean Crawley October 24, 1968. She was a homemaker with young children, then returned to the workforce in real estate and later in receiving and delivery at Sears. Funds for Energy Assistance Still Available

•March 10, 2021• The C.E.F.S Economic Opportunity Corporation’s Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) still has energy assistance funding available for winter utility assistance. Any household that has applied as of last July 27, 2020 or after would not be eligible to apply again unless they are being disconnected from their utility service. LIHEAP provides one-time grants to help income eligible households pay for their winter utility expenses. C.E.F.S. began taking LIHEAP applications on July 27th for the current program year 2021. •March 10, 2021• by Jason Brown NP Sports The Okaw Valley boys’ basketball team defeated Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond last Tuesday and Cerro Gordo/Bement Friday to stay atop the Lincoln Prairie Conference, but the Timberwolves lost to Meridian on a nonconference game Saturday. On the road Friday against Cerro Gordo/Bement, the game was back-and-forth in the first quarter and for the first half of the second quarter. Then the Timberwolves went on 14-2 run late in the second quarter to take a 14-point lead into halftime, 41-27. “Together, We Give Back to School”

Sullivan Elementary School recently received 60 backpacks filled with school supplies through Amazon’s “Together, We Give Back to School” campaign. End of the Line Tackle & Bait, an Amazon delivery partner, nominated Sullivan Elementary for the program, and the school’s submission was selected to receive the donation. Pictured (left to right) are Cameron Martin, Taylor Lilly, James Martin, Marla Martin and Angela McRill following the July 27 delivery.
