Bates Takes Third in District Contest

Scholarship Applications Available

•February 3, 20201• Applications are now available for the 2021 Irrevocable Scholarship program offered through the Sullivan American Legion Post 68. The scholarship is open to high school seniors who will be graduating from public high schools in Moultrie County and high school seniors that are descendants of members in good standing of the Sullivan American Legion Post 68. The program offers one $1,000 four year, annually renewable scholarship. Application deadline is March 31,2021. Copies of the application packet may be requested from your high school counselor. •February 3, 20201• By Crystal Reed NP Writer Chase Eller, 16, of Sullivan is being called a hero after he stepped in while a baby was choking and saved the baby’s life. Last Friday evening, Eller while at dinner in Decatur with his girlfriend heard a baby coughing and then choking. He saw the mom of the baby trying to help her choking baby but doing so incorrectly. Jackie Snow Jackie Snow, 69, of Decatur, passed away at 1:45 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2021 in her home with her husband by her side. Celebration of Life services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Dickie Johnson and the Rev. Penny Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Thursday.  Memorials are suggested to HSHS Hospice. Sullivan Elementary School recently received 60 backpacks filled with school supplies through Amazon’s “Together, We Give Back to School” campaign. End of the Line Tackle & Bait, an Amazon delivery partner, nominated Sullivan Elementary for the program, and the school’s submission was selected to receive the donation.
