Sullivan Library Holds Open House For IDEA Lab

•November 4, 2020• by Crystal Reed NP Writer The Elizabeth Titus Memorial Library held an open house for their new IDEA Lab on Oct 22. IDEA stands for Imagine, Design, Engineer and Achieve. The lab is available to students in kindergarten through 12th grade and has a wide variety of activities. According to Library Director Michelle Nolan, the lab is being made possible by a Project Next Generation grant from the State of Illinois and a donation from 100 Women Who Care. Students Receive Scholarships

•November 4, 2020• Lakeview College of Nursing in Danville and Charleston, awarded numerous scholarships for the Fall 2020 semester. The following area students are among those who received scholarships: Whitney Miller of Sullivan, received the Manford Darnall Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund. Miller attends Lakeview’s Charleston Campus. Hannah Nowlin of Atwood, received the Helen Feldkamp Memorial Scholarship. Nowlin attends Lakeview’s Charleston Campus. Lakeview College of Nursing Scholarships are made possible by generous donations to the College’s scholarship endowment fund. Sullivan native stars in “New Faces Sing Broadway 1987”

•November 4, 2020• by Crystal Reed NP Writer Garrett Griffin, son of Jim and Lisa Griffin, is starring in the Chicago Porchlight Music Theatre’s “New Faces Sing Broadway 1987.” The show is the latest virtual offering from Porchlight Music Theatre and it debuts November 6 and runs through November 29. Griffin was born and raised in Sullivan and graduated from Sullivan High School in 2013. “I didn’t do theatre as a kid but got the musical bug from showchoir and I took piano and voice lessons,” he said. •November 4, 2020• The State of Illinois is sponsoring a community drive through COVID-19 test site on Friday, Nov 6 from 9 am to 4 pm at Building 1225, 1225 S. Hamilton Street in Sullivan. Simple nasal swabs will be used. You will be called with results within 4-7 days. There is no cost for testing. Bring your insurance card, but you can still be tested if you don’t have insurance. •November 4, 2020• ALAH Boys’ Cross Country The Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond boys’ cross country teams competed in the IHSA Class 1A Cross Country Sectional at Hickory Point Golf Course Saturday. “Together, We Give Back to School”

Sullivan Elementary School recently received 60 backpacks filled with school supplies through Amazon’s “Together, We Give Back to School” campaign. End of the Line Tackle & Bait, an Amazon delivery partner, nominated Sullivan Elementary for the program, and the school’s submission was selected to receive the donation. Pictured (left to right) are Cameron Martin, Taylor Lilly, James Martin, Marla Martin and Angela McRill following the July 27 delivery.
