Sullivan Boys Cross Country To Compete This Saturday

•October 21, 2020• By Jason Brown NP Sports The Sullivan boys’ cross country team placed last with 106 points in the 7th Annual Central Illinois Conference meet at Forest Park in Shelbyville Thursday, Oct. 15. Shelbyville won the meet with 47 points, and St. Teresa took second with 52 points. For the Redskins, senior Chase McClure earned all-conference honors with a ninth place finish and a season-best time of 17:14.0. Connie West Connie S. West, 73, of Sullivan, passed away at 2:58 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at St. Mary’s hospital in Decatur. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2020, at McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan. Burial was in Pea Cemetery in Sullivan. Memorials may be made to the Bethany Fire and Ambulance Service. Connie was born February 26, 1947, in Decatur, a daughter of Hershel and Agnes (Myers) Weaver. She was a lifelong resident of Sullivan where she graduated from Sullivan High school. … Read More

Former Congressman Brings Non-Violent Message To Moultrie County

•October 14, 2020• by Crystal Reed NP Writer Former State Senator and U.S. Congressman Glenn Poshard visited Sullivan last Friday as part of his non-violent marches tour. Starting September 28, Poshard began visiting the courthouses in all 39 counties of the two congressional districts he represented in Congress carrying signs of non-violence and respect for people and our democracy. Sullivan Boys Golf Wins Regional

“Together, We Give Back to School”

Sullivan Elementary School recently received 60 backpacks filled with school supplies through Amazon’s “Together, We Give Back to School” campaign. End of the Line Tackle & Bait, an Amazon delivery partner, nominated Sullivan Elementary for the program, and the school’s submission was selected to receive the donation. Pictured (left to right) are Cameron Martin, Taylor Lilly, James Martin, Marla Martin and Angela McRill following the July 27 delivery.
