25 Years Ago This Week The Dalton City Christian Church will mark its 130th anniversary with an open house. Extensive remodeling of the sanctuary will be unveiled and a dedication ceremony will be held based on the dedication ceremony used when the present church was dedicated in 1956. The present church building is the third to stand in the same location. The first church, one of the oldest buildings in Moultrie County burned down in the 1920s. Food Drive
•November 11, 2020• The Lovington Grade School Student Council is sponsoring a Food Drive Contest during the week of Nov 9-13. Classes will work together to fill a box with unexpired canned goods or non-perishable items. All donations will benefit Christ’s Pantry. On Saturday, Nov 14 from 9-11:30 am they will collect donations from the community and place it in the class box of their choosing. They will be set up downtown, please look for more information on social media throughout the week. The winner will be determined after the community event. •November 11, 2020• By Capitol News Illinois Backers of a graduated income tax constitutional amendment conceded defeat Wednesday, Nov. 4, for Gov. JB Pritzker’s marquee policy proposal which was projected to bring in more than $3 billion annually to state coffers. With 98 percent of precincts reporting, voters had rejected the amendment by a 55 percent to 45 percent margin. Millikin University Receives Grant to Help Combat Human Trafficking in Central Illinois
•November 11, 2020• This fall, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) awarded a $1.29 million grant to support programs for survivors of human trafficking and bolster policing efforts for the Central Illinois Human Trafficking Task Force. Millikin University’s Human Trafficking Research Lab was designated as a subgrantee of the grant to be used over the next three years for research on efforts in 46 central Illinois counties.
