25 Years Ago This Week Family will gather at Sullivan Living Center to celebrate Hattie Pearse Bolin’s 100 years of life. The Sullivan native and widow began teaching at the age of 16 at Miller School, a one-room schoolhouse in Moultrie County. She married Guy Bolin in June of 1914. They had five children. Midnight, an 11 week-old female puppy is the newest member of the Sullivan Living Center family. Employees for the month of March were Gwen Murphy, Betty Purdeu, Bonnie Dick and Janet Reedy. OVHS Honors Work Study/Job Shadow Participants

•May 1, 2019• A semester of students following mentors ended with Okaw Valley High School work study/job shadow participants sharing their experiences in the outside world. Program coordinator Bonnie Scott explained to the crowd of 40 gathered at Tailwinds Restaurant in Findlay that the work study students performed tasks for various participating locations. Supt. Kent Stauder commended Scott and principal Matt Schoaff for their commitment to the Okaw Valley’s path to work philosophy for students. “These are partnerships that are important to the kids,” he began, “by offering different paths after high school, whether work, vocational school, military or college.” … Read More

Sullivan Girls Place at Invitational Meet

•May 1, 2019• By Jason Brown NP Sports Editor Brynna Sentel finished out her sophomore on the Franklin women’s swimming and diving team competing in the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving National Championships in Greensboro, NC, March 20-23. Sentel, a Sullivan High School graduate, placed 12th in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.27. The time was a personal best, a Franklin school record and Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) record. Sullivan Baseball Hits a Four Game Winning Streak

•May 1, 2019• By Jason Brown NP Sports Editor Sullivan baseball lost to Maroa-Forsyth last Tuesday, then went on a four-game winning streak against Clinton, Central A&M, Okaw Valley and Clinton again. Monday evening in Sullivan the Redskins defeated Clinton for the second time in five days. Sullivan jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and tacked on another run in the third for a 4-0 lead. FCCLA State Leadership Conference

•May 1, 2019• Jessica Renfro, a senior at Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond High School, attended the FCCLA State Leadership Conference. She competed in the “Chapter in Review Portfolio” Senior Category and received a silver medal. Her project was named “Most Outstanding” in the category and earned a National Delegate title. Jessica served as a voting delegate at the conference and was one of 22 students chosen to participate in a special flag ceremony during the Friday night general session.
