Patty Jo Burcham Patty Jo Burcham, 85, of Sullivan passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Sullivan Health Care. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2019 at Camfield Cemetery, Sullivan. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Friday at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Sullivan or to the Sullivan Fire and Ambulance Service. Patty was born September 19, 1933 in Sullivan, the daughter of Walter Fay and Emma (Frederick) Emel. Sullivan Boys’ Track Places Fourth at Tri-County

•April 24, 2019• By Jason Brown NP Sports Editor The Sullivan boys’ track and field team placed fourth in the Tri-County Invitational at Sullivan High School last Tuesday. The boys’ team set a total of 16 new personal records and two first-place finishers. Leighton Burcham long jumped 19 feet 11 inches for first place and took third in the triple jump at 37 feet 9.5 inches. Jadon Nuzzo pole vaulted 15 feet for first place, and Brodie Goss took second place in the 300-meter hurdles at 42.86 and fourth in the 11-meter hurdles with a time of 18.03. … Read More

Redskins Baseball Bounces Back to Defeat Hawks

The Redskins lost to Warrensburg-Latham 6-5 Friday, Shelbyville 8-2 last Wednesday and Warrensburg-Latham again 5-2 last Tuesday. Monday against Meridian, Redskins Tim Lawyer had two hits, and Ian Hill knocked in a run to help Sullivan to a 2-0 win. Spencer Johnson pitched five innings and struck out 12, and Dalton Rogers pitched two innings and struck out two for the win. OVHS Holds Blood Drive

•April 24, 2019• An American Red Cross blood drive will be held 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, April 29 in the Okaw Valley High School gym in Bethany sponsored by the student council. Any healthy individual age 16 through 75 who meets weight requirements may donate blood. Donors should eat a healthy meal and drink an extra 16 oz. of water and fluids before donating, and they must bring identification showing a picture and a signature. The Kirby Foods meat department delivered hams to the Moultrie County Food Pantry on Wednesday the 16th, thanks to a generous anonymous donation. The hams will provide a nice Easter dinner.
