The Knights knocked off Decatur Lutheran last Tuesday and Villa Grove/Heritage Friday for a perfect 6-0 LPC record. Year Began with Above Normal Temps and Precipitation

•February 12, 2020• The preliminary statewide average January temperature was 31.4 degrees, 5 degrees above the 30-year normal and the 17th warmest on record going back to 1895, according to Illinois State Climatologist Trent Ford at the University of Illinois’ Illinois State Water Survey. The preliminary statewide average total January precipitation was 4.41 inches, 2.34 inches above the 30-year normal and the ninth wettest on record. OV Girls Basketball Team Advances

•February 12, 2020• By Jason Brown NP Sports Editor The Okaw Valley girls’ basketball team won its last regular-season game against Decatur LSA Thursday and carried that momentum into a win in the first round of the IHSA Class 1A Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond Regional Monday. In Arthur Monday, OV defeated Meridian to advance in regional action this week. To knock off the Hawks, the Timberwolves outscored Meridian 7-4 in each of the first two quarters. Sullivan Swimmers Take First Place

•February 12, 2020• The Sullivan swim team competed in a meet last week. Ethan Schmohe placed first in the 100 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 backstroke, 50 freestyle and 100 fly. He placed second in the 200 freestyle, 200 IM and 400 IM. Matthew Wesselman took first place in the 500 freestyle with a personal-best time of 5:15.91. 2019 Moultrie County Tentative Multiplier Announced

•February 12, 2020• Moultrie County has been issued a tentative property assessment equalization factor of 1.0000, according to David Harris, Director of the Illinois Department of Revenue. The property assessment equalization factor, often called the “multiplier”, is the method used to achieve uniform property assessments among counties, as required by law. This equalization is particularly important because some of the state’s 6,600 local taxing districts overlap into two or more counties (e.g. school districts, junior college districts, fire protection districts). American Legion Hosts Wine Expo

Landmark torn down



News Progress


The home at the intersection of Route 133 and Route 32 in Lovington was torn down last week. The house had become a major hazard after a box truck struck it, taking out a large portion of the north wall. The owners had the home demolished after it was deemed a public safety issue.
