City Wide Power Outage

•October 9, 2019• The City of Sullivan Electric Department will perform a city-wide outage, weather permitting, starting at midnight Saturday, October 26, 2019 for upgrades to the substation. The outage is estimated to last approximately 4 hours or until the project is completed. Sullivan Boys’ Golf Team Wins Regional Championship

After finishing the season 26-0, the Redskins won the Central Illinois Conference meet for the third year in a row last Tuesday, Sullivan followed that with a regional championship Monday. Tuscola Dominates Redskins in Homecoming Game

•October 9, 2019• By Jason Brown NP Sports Editor The Sullivan-Okaw Valley football team dropped its Homecoming game against Tuscola 56-13 Friday night. The Warriors scored first on a 49-yard run with 9:54 left in the opening period to take a 7-0 lead. The Redskins tied the scored at seven with 5:05 left to play in the first quarter when Dillon Wallace punched in a 1-yard run. From there, Tuscola rattled off the next 49 points. ALAH Volleyball Drops Two in Heritage

•October 9, 2019• The Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond volleyball team dropped its first two matches in the inaugural Lincoln Prairie Conference Tournament at Heritage Monday night. In pool play, the Knights lost to Cumberland 25-21, 25-19 and to host Heritage 25-13, 25-23. Against Cumberland, Mackenzi Bowles led the team with nine kills to go with three kills. County Board Plans to Give & Take Away

•October 9, 2019• By Mike Brothers Moultrie County Board is planning to do some giving and taking away at the regula October meeting Thursday. During three different committee meetings Oct. 2 a proposed hiring freeze would take away county office personnel decisions and a reorganization of animal control will take away Jan Haegen’s part time ESDA position. The giving came upon recommendation of County Board Chairman Dave McCabe to create a new Department of Technology services and hire a department head at a $65,000 annual salary. •October 9, 2019• Letters to the editor written by Cami Badman’s honors English juniors at Sullivan High School explored controversial subjects with a maturity and logic that should be envied by adults. Badman opened the school year challenging 24 students in two classes to present well rounded arguments for controversial subjects in letters to the editor. Throughout history letters to newspapers on important local topics have crafted public opinion into pivotal changes in society. BASO Car Show a success

The Bethany Advocates and Support Organization hosted its annual car show on August 22 at Crowder Park. The perfect afternoon weather bought out 52 entries and many enthusiastic onlookers. Greg Fitzgerald’s 1966 Pontiac GTO took home Best off Show honors.
