Kayakers Kick Off Run at Denham’s Pit

Lake Shelbyvile Water Trail Flows •October 2, 2019• On Sunday, September 15, more than twenty kayakers gathered at Denham’s Pit near Allenville to launch Lake Shelbyville’s first Kayak Run.  The weather was nearly perfect for the event which kicked off at 1 pm.  Kayakers had transportation available for both them and their kayaks from the Sullivan Marina to the launch site.  Kayakers were able to spot dozens of pelicans and herons, three bald eagles, and numerous other wildlife as they navigated their way down approximately nine miles of the Kaskaskia River and Lake Shelbyville. The Food and Cash Drive benefits Christ’s Pantry and will be held in the middle of Lovington from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 5. Last Tuesday, the Timberwolves took care of Arcola in straight sets, 25-10, 25-18, to win another Little Prairie Conference matchup. OV Boys’ Golf Places at Lincoln Prairie

•October 2, 2019• The Okaw Valley boys’ golf team placed second in the Lincoln Prairie Conference Golf Championship Saturday. Senior Addison Webner shot an 88 for third place. Monday night, OV lost to Meridian 187-192. Addison Webner was medalist with a score of 43. Other OV scored included Miles Harlin 44, Dalton Milligan 52, Trey Hall 53, Caleb Hildebrandt 54 and Seth Webner 59.
