Sullivan Softball Team Takes Okaw Valley in Extra Innings

•May 1, 2019• By Jason Brown NP Sports Editor The Sullivan softball team lost two games last week but bounced back Saturday to defeat Okaw Valley 6-5 with a walk-off fielder’s choice by Alexis Britton in extra innings. Against OV, Sullivan fell behind 3-0 in the first inning when Madison Vogel tripled in two of the team’s three first-inning runs. Letter Carriers’ 27th Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

Second Saturday in May •May 1, 2019• The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) will conduct its 27th annual national food drive Saturday, May 11. The Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive, the country’s largest single-day food drive, provides residents with an easy way to donate food to those in need. Customers simply leave their donation of non-perishable goods next to their mailbox before the delivery of the mail on Saturday, May 11. Letter carriers will collect these food donations on that day as they deliver mail along their postal routes and distribute them to local food agencies. Okaw Valley Baseball Bats Blast Cerro Gordo/Bement

The Timberwolves lost to Decatur Lutheran and Sullivan in pitchers’ duels and blew out Cerro Gordo/Bement 14-1. Against Cerro Gordo/Bement Friday, OV’s offensive exploded in two innings, scoring six runs in the first and seven runs in the third. BASO Car Show a success

The Bethany Advocates and Support Organization hosted its annual car show on August 22 at Crowder Park. The perfect afternoon weather bought out 52 entries and many enthusiastic onlookers. Greg Fitzgerald’s 1966 Pontiac GTO took home Best off Show honors.
