Swim Winners
The Sullivan, Okaw Valley, Shelbyville High School Swim Coop had two swimmers with wins. Pictured are McKenna Kull, first place and Anna Wooters, second place.

The Sullivan-Okaw Valley-Shelbyville girls’ swim competed in a meet in Terre Haute Saturday.
The relay team of Anna Wooters, Natalie Drury, Allison Oligschlaeger and McKenna Kull took first place in the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay.
The relay team also broke the pool record in the 200 medley, by thee seconds with a time of 1:56.76.
Kull took first place in the open division. She took second place in the 200 IM, 50 Free, 100 free, 100 fly and 200 free and placed fourth in the 500 free and the 200 backstroke,. Read More

The Mattoon Youth Wrestling team had an excellent season scoring first place wins throughout the area.
Lovington wrestlers include Brady Foster, eighth grade, son of Chad Foster and Chastity Judy, and Lincoln Scroggins, second grade, son of Amanda Scroggins and Chad Scroggins.
Scroggins won firsts at the Mt. Zion Kids Open, Spartan Rumble, O’Fallon Panther Pummel, IKWF Central Regionals and Mattoon Kids Open. Read More

The Sullivan/Okaw Valley adult women’s tennis team played Effingham Oct. 15 and won two out of three matches. The scores were 6-3 6-2, 6-1 4-6 (10-8 tiebreaker) and 2-6 1-6. The tiebreaker match sealed the deal for the ultimate win. Read More

The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond volleyball team set several goals at the beginning of this season.
The expectations only grew when the team won the Arcola tournament and stayed undefeated in the Little Okaw Valley Conference.
This senior-led team anticipated a deep run into the IHSA Class 2A Westville Regional, which was why it was heartbreaking for the Knights when they were upset by Heritage last Tuesday. Read More

On a cold and windy day, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond boys’ cross country team placed 13th with a score of 313 in the Class 1A Carlinville Sectional in Loveless Park Saturday.
The Knights had two top-10 finishers who earned all-sectional honors and a trip to the state track meet.
Logan Hall was meet champion with a time of 15:12.87.
Layton Hall placed 10th with a personal-record time of 15:49.18. Read More

Regional Champs
The excitement was evident in Okaw Valley with the volleyball team’s first Regional Championship. Bella Benning, Kate Jeffers and Natalie Jeffers expressed the emotions of the winning team and the crowd that supported them.

After losing four straight games to end the regular season, the Okaw Valley volleyball team turned it around at the perfect time.
The Timberwolves took advantage of hosting the Class 1A regional in Bethany by knocking off Decatur Lutheran in the quarterfinals and revenging an earlier loss to Cerro Gordo to face No. 1 seeded Broadlands Heritage in the regional championship.
OV upset the Little Okaw Valley Northwest division foe to win its first regional championship in Okaw Valley, Findlay and Bethany’s history, but the Timberwolves could not carry over that moment into a first-round sectional loss to North Clay. Read More

Big Bass Wins
Max Doris wins the big bass award with this 5.09lb catch at the Sangamon Valley Open hosted at Clinton Lake on Sunday, October 22. Max is a freshman at Okaw Valley High School. Sophomore Eric Boomer also attended as a member of the Okaw Valley Fishing Team.
