Sullivan Girls’ Golf Places

The Sullivan girls’ golf team placed second in a triangular against Effingham and Altamont and third in a triangular against Mattoon and Champaign Central this past week.

Last Wednesday at Effingham, Addison Darush, Irie Dulin, Alexis Britton, and Esther Miller led the Redskins in scoring.  Read More

The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond football team dropped a Little Okaw Valley (Northwest) Conference game against Argenta-Oreana 53-13 in Arthur Friday.

“I was pleased with our effort and compete level which was not evident the week before versus LSA,” said ALAH coach Dale Schuring.

A-O jumped out to a 16-0 first quarter lead and put the game away in the third quarter, outscoring the Knights 28-6.

“I thought Marcus Vanausdoll was outstanding on defense,” said Schuring. “He was playing a new position and made plays all over the field.” Read More

OV Volleyball Wins Conference Match

The Okaw Valley volleyball team tallied two more wins this past week, including its first Little Okaw Valley (Northwest) Conference match up.

OC defeated Arcola Thursday and Ramsey last Tuesday.

The Timberwolves defeated Arcola 25-16, 25-22 to start the LOVC at 1-0.

During the match some players and fans wore green ribbons and Ws to show support for Mattoon after the recent school shooting. Read More

ALAH Soccer Defeats Meridian

OVHS Volleyball Wins Two

The Okaw Valley volleyball team finished the week with a 2-1 record.

The Timberwolves defeated Arthur Christian and Villa Grove but lost to Edinburg.

Thursday against Villa Grove, OV won in two sets, 25-14 and 25-22.

Natalie Jeffers tallied eight kills, 12 assists, four blocks and four digs.

Kate Jeffers recorded six kills, four aces and three blocks.

Paige Coleman had five kills and 15 digs, and Kailynn Bobbett had four kills and four blocks.

Sadie Zimmerman totaled 13 assists, four aces and three digs. Read More

ALAH Football Falls to LSA

The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond football team lost to LSA 52-0 at Decatur Friday.

“It was a disappointing evening in all aspects,” said coach Dale Schuring. “We did not come prepared to play at the level we needed to compete with a solid well coached team.”

LSA took 10-0 lead in the first quarter and blew the game open with 28 points in the second.

ALAH struggled moving the ball, and the Knights’ running back totaled only 24 yards offense.

Will Cohan completed 1-of-4 passes to Kobe Wells for four yards.

Marcus Vanausdoll recorded a team-high nine unassisted tackles, and Lucan Otto had six tackles. Read More

Lady Redskin Golf Has Busy Week

Sullivan girls’ golf competed three meets this past week.

The Redskins defeated St. Teresa and hosted Mt. Zion at Southside Country Club Thursday.

Addison Darush was meet medalist.

The three counting scores were Alexis Britton, Irie Dulin, and Esther Miller.

Sullivan also competed against host Pana and Charleston at the Pana Country Club. Read More

Spring concert

On Tuesday, April 28th, under the direction of Dr. Ian Kinkley, Band Director, the Sullivan Band Program presented its symphonious Spring Band concert, titled “Evening Escapes,” which showcased the magnificent and diverse talents of the Sullivan 6th, 7th and 8th grade bands, combined with the Sullivan High School Band and Jazz Band.
