Steve Grant, former NFL linebacker, speaking to Okaw Valley students Monday morning about setting goals and making positive choices. He spoke to Sullivan High School and Middle School students on Sept 13. Grant was a linebacker with the Indianpolis Colts and a graduate of West Virginia University.

ALAH Soccer Takes Meridian

The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond soccer team defeated Meridian and Decatur Christian but lost to Oakwood and Newton this past week.

ALAH knocked off Meridian 5-3.

Sullivan Boys’ Golf Stays Undefeated

The Sullivan boys’ golf team stayed undefeated (11-0) by defeating Okaw Valley, Shelbyville and Meridian on Senior Night Thursday.

The Redskins scored the low of 169, one stroke better than OV’s 170.

Okaw Valley tallied a 170 for second place, and Shelbyville had 201.

Meridian finished with 206.

The Sullivan-Okaw Valley football team suffered its third loss Friday.
Shelbyville spoiled Okaw Valley’s homecoming game by defeating SOV 58-7.
Shelbyville took a 34-0 lead in the first quarter and a 58-0 lead into the half.
Sullivan is scheduled to travel to Warrensburg-Latham for a 7 p.m. start Friday. The team now stands at 0-3 on the season and 0-1 in conference play. They will resume action this Friday at Warrensburg-Latham.

Two More Wins For Sullivan Boys’ Golf

The Sullivan boys’ golf team picked up two more wins to improve its record to 6-0 this week.

The Redskins defeated Clinton last Tuesday and Teutopolis Thursday.

A Growing Experience

The transition from high school to college is often a difficult one, especially before the reward of playing the first game of the year.

Freshman Millikin wide receiver and Sullivan graduate Bryce Farris has found this out first hand, but with help, he has been able to overcome the full-time schedule to start in the first game against Greenville College Thursday night.

The Big Blue won by a score of 76-3.

Farris caught four passes for 35 yards and scored a touchdown at the end of the first quarter. Read More

Okaw Valley Cross Country Competes in First Meet

The Okaw Valley cross country program made history this week competing in its first ever meet as a team last Tuesday.

The Timberwolves ran in the St. Joe Kickapoo Kickoff Classic to kick off its own program.

“Starting up cross country at Okaw Valley is a dream come true,” said coach Brennon Baker. “This is something that has been talked about around here for a long time. It’s definitely a rewarding feeling to watch these guys compete and represent Okaw Valley cross country.”

Baker doesn’t expect his team to set the cross country world on fire, but he does expect his runners to keep improving.

He would also like to have more attention to this team and this sport within the OV community.  Read More

Storm leaves damage in its wake

The storm that occurred in the evening hours of June 11th produced wind gusts of up to 70 mph left many locals without power, with many experiencing damage to property ranging from mild to extreme.
