ALAH Knights Score Big in Palestine-Hutsonville Win

The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond football team evened its record to 1-1 with a 45-12 blowout win against Palestine-Hutsonville Friday night.

The game stayed close until the third quarter when, leading 10-0, the Knights’ offense exploded for 35 points to put the game away.

P-H tacked on its 12 points in the fourth quarter, but it was too late.

ALAH ran for a total of 169 yards on 39 carries and passed the ball for 133 yards on four completions. Read More

ALAH Soccer Wins

The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond soccer team defeated Decatur Christian 9-4 last Tuesday but lost to Blue Ridge 4-1 Thursday.

Sullivan Cross Country Teams at Charleston

The Sullivan cross country teams hosted Argenta-Oreana, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, Bement, Maroa-Forsyth, and Shelbyville at Tabor Park last Tuesday and entered the Charleston Invitational Saturday.

In the home meet, Katherine Kite finished in second place among the girls with a time of 23:25, and Isaiah Plank finished third among the boys with a time of 18:43.  Read More

ALAH Volleyball Has Two Win Week

The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond volleyball team picked up two more wins this past week.

The Knights defeated Chrisman last Tuesday and Villa Grove Thursday.

Thursday ALAH knocked off Villa Grove in two sets, 25-11 and 25-14.

Madison Brown had 22 assists and three digs to lead the team. Read More

Sullivan Girls’ Golf Takes St. T

The Sullivan girls’ golf team stayed undefeated on the season with a win over St. Teresa at Clinton last Wednesday.

Young SOV Football Team is Gaining Strength

SOV freshman Luke Vander Burgh replaced an injured Luke Harlin as Redskins quarterback. Vander Burgh scored against Cumberland following a 12 play 68 yard march to the goal in the second half.

The Sullivan-Okaw Valley football team lost to Cumberland 43-7 Friday to drop its record to 0-2.

The game began with Cumberland’s Ryan Yaw returning the kickoff for an 83-yard touchdown. A 2-point conversion gave the Pirates an 8-0 led.

Cumberland scored 21 more points in the first quarter to put the game away.

“I think we put ourselves in a lot more favorable situations offensively and defensively,” said SOV coach Andy Kerley. “Unfortunately, we couldn’t get off the field on third and long on defense and couldn’t move chains on third downs offensively. I think we played a much better game defensively but just couldn’t make plays in key situations.” Read More

OVHS Golf Extends Streak

The Okaw Valley golf team extended its undefeated steak to 8-0 with a wins over Clinton and Arcola last Tuesday.

OV scored 171 for the win, followed by Clinton’s 210 and Arcola’s 224.

Storm leaves damage in its wake

The storm that occurred in the evening hours of June 11th produced wind gusts of up to 70 mph left many locals without power, with many experiencing damage to property ranging from mild to extreme.
