Lady T-wolves attempt last set comeback, but fall short

Okaw Valley may have been announced as the home team during Monday’s regional quarterfinal, but it sure didn’t feel that way.

The Lady Timberwolves were seeded one spot higher than host Neoga at number four, therefore labeling the Lady Indians as the visitor.

But the very much home crowd sounded out the regional distinction, which Neoga fed off of all night on their way to a 25-21, 25-22 win. Read More

ALAH rides four game win streak into playoffs at LeRoy Saturday

A playoff dress rehearsal for Knights went down to the wire versus the Cumberland Pirates on Friday night. The Pirates who needed a win to qualify for the playoffs jumped out to an early lead forcing the Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond  Knights to rally from behind for the victory.

On the first big play of the game Cumberland took advantage of a tipped pass by Tyler Schuring just as the Knights were threatening to score. With under a minute left in the first quarter the Pirates came up with the first turnover of the contest, flipping the field by returning an interception all the way down inside the Knights’ 10-yard line. On the next play the Pirates’ quarterback Monte Wolke surged in for a touchdown on a QB sneak. However, the Pirates failed on the two point conversion attempt leading 6-0 with 11 minutes to go in the first half. Read More

Bulldogs win 25-17 25-15

The Sullivan Lady Redskins had their season come to an end against the St Teresa Bulldogs on Monday night. Sullivan fell behind early in both sets and had difficulty gaining any sort of offensive rhythm.

“We’re still learning this year, still learning about the head game, fundamentals and my expectations,” said Sullivan first year head coach Krista Smith. “There has been so much change here the last few years. That is just part of the mental game.” Read More

At 6-2, ALAH stamps playoff ticket

For the second week in a row the Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights raced out to a 21 point first quarter lead and never looked back. In a blowout win over the Argenta-Oreana Bombers Tyler Schuring put on an all-conference performance collecting 250 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns. The victory over the Bombers put the Knights back in postseason play and with a week left in the regular season the Knights record stands at 6-2 overall and 4-2 in the Little Okaw Valley conference. Outgoing senior golfer earns best state outing of career

As head coach Andy Wagner described senior golfer Paige Harlin, last year she was just happy to be at the state tournament in Decatur. This year, she wasn’t happy with her 27th place finish despite it being a marked improvement from the 56th place she earned the year before.

“It could have been really, really good,” said Wagner of the first day of the two-day state series. “Sitting in the top 20 after day one, it was really neat, but we talked all the way home about how she really did not putt well at all. What was an 82 could have very easily been a 75 or 76. Of course, we were pleased, but, probably the best way to put it is we weren’t satisfied.” Read More
